§ 5.62.010. Operation without proper instruction.

  • It is unlawful for any person to operate or control the operation of, or to in any manner work upon or be engaged in connection with the operation of, any street car propelled by any motive power upon any street railway in the city, unless he or she shall, prior to so doing, have spent at least ten days in learning the proper manner of so operating said car and in learning the route traveled by said car under the instruction and guidance of competent instructors; or for any person to act as such instructor until he or she has been instructed for a period of ten days in the proper operation of such car or unless he or she has been actually engaged in the operation of a street car upon a street railway in the city for a period of six months prior to giving the instructions, and is familiar with the route traveled by said car.
